How it started...
Ash Mouldings UK Ltd is a small company based in Wakefield, Yorkshire. They've been going since 1998, making custom plastic and polyurethane parts for all sorts of projects. From design through to production, it’s a hands-on approach, and they’ve carved out a niche by doing things the right way — no fuss, no corners cut.
We first crossed paths with them over ten years ago. A local web company was winding down, and we stepped in to take over hosting a few of their clients’ sites — Ash Mouldings included. Once we had the site running on our servers, the team asked if we could give it a bit of a refresh.
This was back in 2013, when responsive websites were becoming the industry standard. Their site at the time wasn’t quite keeping up — especially on mobiles and tablets. So, we worked with Ash Mouldings to give the site a modern design while incorporating a responsive layout that made it easier for visitors to navigate and get in touch. As the site was mainly used as a reference point for existing and prospective clients rather than an active marketing tool, the focus was on simplicity, clarity, and ease of contact.
The journey so far...
Our first rendition of the website served Ash Moulding's requirements for more than a decade. We occasionally updated some of the content throughout, but fundamentally the website 'just worked' for them and ran as a passive marketing tool alongside their great reputation.
By 2024, though, things had moved on. Drupal 7, the platform it was built on, was reaching end-of-life. Time to update. Not because anything was broken, but to keep everything running safely and smoothly long-term.
Because we’d built such a solid working relationship over the years, we quickly understood what Ash Mouldings required. We had a few short phone calls to discuss how the business had developed over the past decade - they shared their thoughts, we brought some ideas to the table, and together we shaped the direction of the new site.
We built the new version utilising Drupal 10. Once again, ensuring the design was clean, simple, and easy to use, just like before. However, this time the website is set up to move smoothly to Drupal 11 when the time comes, which means no disruption down the line.
Most importantly, the new site stays true to what Ash Mouldings has a company needs — a reliable, no-fuss web presence that allows current and potential customers to find them, see their key services / products and easy ways to get in touch with the team in Yorkshire.
