How it started...
Dwell didn’t appear overnight.
The story began nine years earlier with another client of ours - Urban Let. They approached us looking to establish themselves as a serious name in the Chester lettings market. At the time, the goal was clear: build credibility, strengthen their presence and give the brand the foundations it needed to grow.
That early work paid off. Urban Let became recognised locally, and as confidence grew, so did ambition. The next step was entering the sales market, which led to a rebrand as Urban Sale and Let. It reflected the broader service offering and positioned the business more clearly within the property space.
But as the company evolved, so did its thinking. Over time, the “Urban” branding began to feel limiting. The business had grown beyond its original positioning and wanted something that better reflected where it was heading.
That’s when Dwell Estate Agents was born.
At that stage, their websites were running on WordPress. They’d served their purpose, but the next phase called for something more robust.
The journey so far...
Dwell’s ambition was to move firmly into the higher end of the property market. The brand needed to reflect that shift - refined, confident and clearly positioned within Chester and the surrounding areas.
We started with the foundations: the logo. It needed to feel premium without being overstated. Colour palettes were explored carefully, focusing on tones that would convey quality and professionalism without feeling generic. Once the visual direction was agreed, everything else followed.
Stationery, for sale signs, printed materials, digital assets - every element needed to align. Brand uniformity was key. If someone received a letterhead, picked up a brochure, saw a business card or read an email signature, it had to feel undeniably Dwell.
With the brand established, attention turned to the website.
This time, the framework itself was rethought. We moved the build to Drupal 11, giving Dwell greater control and flexibility while reducing ongoing subscription costs that are common within property search platforms. Estate agency websites often end up tied into costly third-party platforms, particularly when it comes to property search functionality. Over time, those subscription fees add up. For Dwell, it made sense to step back and look at a smarter way of structuring it.
We rebuilt the site on Drupal 11 and developed a bespoke module to connect directly with Jupix. Instead of relying on an off-the-shelf add-on, the integration was shaped around how Dwell actually works. Properties feed through cleanly, the search feels straightforward to use, and the whole experience sits comfortably within the brand rather than feeling bolted on.
Behind the scenes, it’s leaner and far more controllable. On the surface, it simply feels polished and easy to navigate — which was always the point.
